Brimming with traditional Austrian charm but with all the conveniences of a modern resort, St Anton's vast, high altitude ski area and vibrant atmosphere make it truly world class. It's one of the major international destinations that everyone must visit at least once (and is likely to return to frequently thereafter). Two minutes from the train station and less than an hour's drive from Innsbruck airport, it's a conveniently accessible resort. The main village is traffic free and stretches for about 1km - dot...
It's often said that if you learn to ski or snowboard here, you're likely to find any other resort an utter breeze... Just don't do a Bridget Jones (her memorable descent in 'Edge of Reason' took place on one of the more challenging Arlberg runs) and make sure to take advantage of the excellent tuition on offer. Thanks to local legend Hannes Schneider, St Anton opened the first ski school in 1921. The Skischule Arlberg continues to provide excellent tuition today, so beginners are in good hands. There's a nurs...
The après ski here is absolutely legendary: the atmosphere is constantly buzzing and with a night bus running until 3am, you can really make the most of your evening. You'll find about 20 bars offering a variety of scenes, but to experience après ski at its best you can't leave until you've joined the masses and danced on the tables at world-famous Mooserwirt or The Crazy Kangaroo (Krazy Kanguruh). While it's reputation is lively (and the resort lives up to it) there are lots of options if you prefer a more so...

Everything was lovely, really really good. The staff went above and beyond to look after us really, it was great. We would definitely consider it again. It was all really good and it worked really well, we’ll definitely keep doing catered chalets going forward, rather than hotels! The food that they prepared was absolutely amazing. The courses and meals were really good, but unfortunately there was not enough attention to the threat or seriousness of a coeliac attack, which our daughter is very seriously coeliac. Probably from not being properly informed, the staff I don’t think may not truly understand the difference between gluten intolerance and coeliac disease. I’d say it’s about a 10min walk in the morning and we were all adults, so it was fine, but may be a bit trickier for younger kids. It was really nice, not noisy or anything and on the edge of town but then also close to the pedestrianised area, probably another 8mins into the centre of St Anton .
