Location: where is Chalet Estelle

The chalets are located literally right on the doorstep of the Bruyéres gondola lift - the picture at the foot of the page was taken from our back door and you can't get much closer than this! The gondola lift takes you straight up to the peak above the Meribel valley (Mont de la Chambre at 2850m) from where you can ski down into Val Thorens, Meribel or Les Menuires.

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Estelle description

Chalet Estelle is one of the five catered chalets located in the "Chalets de Bruyeres" development in Les Menuires - the chalet is independent and can be booked on it's own as a full chalet or by the room but it can also be booked with one of the other chalets to provide a great location for groups of up to 75 people. The chalet has two identical sisters - Chalet Flora and Chalet Gabrielle. The other two chalets are different in layout - Chalet Delfina and Chalet Hayley.

Each suite consists of a double room and a separate cabine room for children - one cabine is very small and has two single beds end to end (the double bedroom is larger in this suite) and the other has two single beds at right angles (the double room is smaller). These suites are priced lower for both adults and children to reflect their size. All rooms are en-suite and are equipped with showers, washbasin and WC.

The comfortable living room has a space to sit and relax around the cosy fireplace or a dining area which is an ideal place for board games outside of meal times. The mini-bar offers a selection of wines, beers and soft-drinks which you can enjoy on the sun terrace in the afternoons or soak away the aches and pains of a hard days skiing in the hot-tub while taking in the great view across the Val Thorens. For those who need to keep in touch with the outside world, a free WIFI internet connection is provided in the chalet.

In the hallway at the back of the chalets there is a ski room for each chalet with heated electric boot warmers - from this corridor you take the security coded lift which takes you up and drops you on the piste at the foot of the gondola lift - access to the pistes really couldn't be easier.

Together with Saint Martin De Belleville and Val Thorens, Les Menuires (say it Lay-Men-Weer) is part of the Vallée des Belleville and is the cheapest base for skiing in the 3 Valleys. This purpose-built resort is more focussed on the practical than the aesthetic. Le Menuires is split into five villages - Preyerand, La Croisette, Les Fontanettes, Reberty and Les Bruyères, all linked by walking paths, ski runs, shuttle buses and lifts. Les Bruyères or Reberty have the sloping roofs and wood-cladding the Al...
The resort has aimed to provide a wide variety for all abilities – and the proof is in the pudding! The opportunities are outstanding for skiers and snowboarders, but you would expect no less considering it is a part of the world's largest ski area. Novices will find five free lifts either end of the resort for getting to grips on gentle little green runs and longer greens such as La Violette at the top of the gondola from La Croisette. With a healthy mix of reds and blue runs covering the vast majori...
End a day of skiing on the large sun terrace in L'Oisans and sit down in the sunshine with a jug of beer. Kick back with a cocktail or shoot some pool in the cosy Piano Bar Le Kube. Sports games can be watched on the TVs at Café Snack. If you ski over to Val Thorens be sure to go for some drinks at the famous Folie Douce. Those looking for some late-night action have 2 night clubs to choose between; Le New Pop in La Croisette or Le Liberty in Les Bruyères - an intimate underground bar with seats fashioned like...

"true ski in ski out"

Fiona
4/ out of 5
I returned on Saturday from a weeks holiday with my family in a catered chalet in Les Menuires. We were in the Estelle chalet and looked after by a chalet couple who made our holiday experience extra special. Their commitment to their job was palpable and it was obvious that they had no problem going the "extra mile” at times to enhance that holiday experience, for a couple so young it was admirable. The resort manager had a noticeable presence and would have been available if there had been a problem...The location of the chalet was perfect for us, true ski in ski out and fabulous for skiing the 3 valleys.

"March 2015 - Great"

We had a great time at Chalet Estelle and I was pleasantly surprised by the overall standard of the chalet. The only small issues were the noisy wooden staircase, and the two kids rooms being smaller than I had imagined, but the kids loved living inside a cupboard, so it all worked out well, especially since we were one group in the chalet. I would like to comment on our chalet hosts – they were absolutely superb and I would say that their friendly and helpful attitude went a long way towards making the week a great one. Nothing was too much trouble, from oiling a squeaky door to making sure that the breakfast was served in the correct order depending on who had to get kids to ski-school first. The meals were all perfectly cooked, well presented and on time and the chalet was clean and tidy ….. I was also impressed with the resort manager, who popped around frequently to give updates and check that things were running smoothly. All-in-all, a great experience.

The chalet was perfect and the chalet hosts were excellent. I don’t think there was one thing that we would have changed (except maybe the 3 flights of stairs up to our room, a bit of a struggle after a hard days skiing) although when we got there the room was perfect. The location of the chalet was great and the instructors we had were very good. The food was delicious and I am already missing the cakes. It looks like we will be going back as the kids are already talking about the next ski holiday.

We have enjoyed a fabulous week in chalet Estelle. The key reasons for the success are above all our hosts; they have been extremely attentive to our every need and contributing to make us and the other guests feel welcome. This was our first time in a catered chalet and thanks to our hosts, it will certainly not be the last. We have been lucky with the other guests of the chalet; they were an enthusiastic and very friendly group. Obviously, the good snow and weather have also helped make this ski week a success. Again, a big thank you …
