Overview: chalet description: Chalet Du Berger description

CHARACTERFUL CHALET FOR 16 GUESTS
Chalet du Berger is very much in the French family home style, so has great character, but we'd be kidding if we said it was really plush. It offers great value for money for skiers who are simply interested in skiing rather than pampering. Staying in Du Berger, of course, you still get the same excellent service as in all our other chalets.
The location of Du Berger is perfect, with the Solaise Express only a 4 minute walk away. There's usually enough snow to ski back very close by to the chalet too.
The lounge/dining area has a warm atmosphere and mountain views from the balcony. Some bedrooms are smaller than others (just ask when you call us) but all have ensuite bathrooms and plenty of hot water!
We offer a generous discount for filling this classic Alpine chalet, so if budget is a key factor but you don't want to compromise on the ski area, Du Berger is definitely worth a look.

This package holiday to Chalet Du Berger in Val d'Isere, France departs Sunday 2nd March 2025, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 2024 was between €1 and €3 per person, per night.

In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced: val de saire/sare/ser or val d sere) is widely thought of as one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In keeping with the giddyingly gorgeous surroundings, the resort itself is one of France's prettiest - a huddle alpine hamlets formed from cosy wood and stone chalets. With the original village dating back to the 13th century and a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre, there’s alpine charm by the bucket load. While dre...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. In Val d'Isere's 90-something restaurants, ...

"Could be better"

Pete, London

Frankly the chalet wasn’t great, it’s all pretty basic which I don’t really mind when it’s at the lower end of the price range. The bedrooms don’t really matter generally speaking as you don’t spend much time in them, but the communal area (an open plan kitchen, long table and seating) wasn’t great. The food was alright, we weren’t bowled over by any culinary genius but it met our expectations and there are no complaints – I’ve had better in other chalets but probably paid more for it. If I was ranking it for location I’d put it low-middling - it’s on the edge of Val d’Isere, about a 15 minute walk from the town centre and a 10 minute hike from the lifts. It’s advertised as very close to one of the lifts, which it is, but you have to walk for a while to get to it. The location wasn’t so bad that it was annoying, but it could have been better. I have to say the 2 chalet boys weren’t at all enthusiastic and really looked like they didn’t want to be there.

The chalet was great and we had a lovely time with the people there. It’s quite a small chalet but it was absolutely fine for us and our room was great. We enjoyed the food, they did a different meal every night, my son has a nut allergy and there were no problems at all, they were very hospitable. It was easy to get around, we could reach the slopes in about a five minute walk with ski boots on.
