Espace Killy ski area Fantastic après ski High altitude skiing

Tignes is somewhere you can ski longer, higher and further than most other resorts in the Alps. Owing its snow-reliability to the Grande Motte glacier, the local ski area is joined with Val d’Isere’s to form the mammoth Espace Killy - intermediates will have a whale of a time here. Choose between 5 different villages, whether your priority is convenience, cosiness or cheap accommodation. Tignes also has one of the most famous New Year parties in the Alps.

Tignes ski resort (pronounce it 'Teens') is one half of the stunning Espace Killy, one of the biggest linked ski areas in France. Because of its high-altitude terrain and access to the Grande Motte glacier, the resort is open both earlier and later in the season than many others and often the lifts are running for short periods of summer skiing. Predominantly purpose built, the resort itself is divided into 5 villages, each different in its own way but all well linked by lifts and bus services. The main area...
With varied pistes at a high altitude, the ski area has impressive powdered terrain for skiers and boarders alike. Beginners can practice on the nursery slopes at Le Lac and Le Lavachet, where you'll find gentle, quiet runs that are accessible via free beginners' lifts. Le Bollin at Val Claret is another conveniently situated green and Grattalu is a lovely wide blue for those wanting to build confidence. Tignes is incredible if you ski at an intermediate level, with miles of powdery blue and red runs includi...
While it's said that those who appreciate Tignes do so for the serious skiing over the après ski, this doesn't do justice to the fact that Tignes' 60+ bars/pubs and 4 night clubs provide some of the best nightlife in the Alps. All villages have their fair share of places to eat and drink, and with a shuttle bus service running 24 hours, you can enjoy your evening without worrying about the journey back. Jam bar is small but with a great atmosphere and Loop bar pretty much offers it all: with live sport, world c...

"It had everything that you needed!"

Steven
5/ out of 5
I had a really great holiday! It was really good! the food was good and the staff were excellent. I would normally not give things a 4/5 and never full marks, but I would give this a 5/5! The staff were so good, the food was excellent and the location was fantastic. The food was excellent, I was there for 2x weeks and all the meals were good. The location for the chalet was absolutely perfect! It was about a 30 second to 1 minute walk, it was very accessible. It was really an amazing location.

" Overall very very happy"

It was a lovely holiday! We’d definitely recommend it to anyone and would definitely go back. We’d booked 2x rooms for the three of us and one of the rooms had a small issue with the shower pressure, but we weren’t bothered. That was the only remotely possible bit of “negative” feedback, but it didn’t really impact us at all. We did also use the hot tub and sauna which were all working fine, I think only the steam room wasn’t, but it was just typical start of the season teething issues. But the chalet staff helped us through everything and we had a great time. Overall I’d give it 10/10! We were very happy, it was very good and we’d recommend it. The chalet staff were good and friendly, the food was absolutely top notch, drinks were lovely. Getting out was nice and easy, just a quick waddle and then you were on the slopes. We only had to use the busses once, we were out too late and the lifts closed, but we knew about it and it wasn’t a problem. We a little bit worried when we were told the only way back to the resort was down an icy black run, but as it transpired it wasn’t that icy and our skiing got better, so it was fine to get back. Also contrary to what we were told there is an easier way back to the chalet where you don’t have to go down the black run, you just need to do a little bit of waddling over the flat bit.
