Overview: chalet description: Chalet Chartreuse description

Our best chalet in one of our favourite resorts. We love the Chartreuse for its charm and added luxuries. It's everything you would imagine a mountain cabin to be; huge chunky beams everywhere, a cosy warm feel thanks to the roaring open fireplace and a sauna and hot tub to ease in to before sitting down to freshly prepared food and wine.

When you walk into the open-plan lounge/diner from the large sun terrace with its indoor/outdoor hot tub, you get the sense this is a special chalet. The furnishings and style are high quality and you know you're in for a comfortable stay.

The bedrooms are beautiful. Oodles of solid wooden beams, many of which have been made a feature of. The ensuite rooms aren't enormous, but they're not cluttered either, just nicely furnished and finished with tasteful mountain décor.

The location is quiet being just off of the Place de Venosc but that doesn't mean you're miles from everything. The nearest lift is only a few minutes walk and the equipment hire shop with storage is only a few minutes further on. There are bars and restaurants around the Place de Venosc but we recommend you head on a bit further for more variety.

You won't be disappointed with a stay here. Your hosts will make sure you want for nothing whilst filling you with superb food and drink while our Mountain Experts will look after you on the slopes. It really is an excellent choice for your ski break.

Meals: Chalet Chartreuse food & drink

Our chalet board basis is designed for skiers and boarders. Start every morning with an extensive continental breakfast, and cooked options on most days. Your daily afternoon tea of freshly baked cakes and biscuits will be waiting for you when you come in from the slopes.

Evening meals are a three-course set-menu with regionally inspired dishes and free-flowing wine throughout the week, all followed by fresh coffee. We provide evening meals on six nights a week leaving you free to head out and explore the resort on one evening.

We update Chalet Chartreuse's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

Glacier Skiing Top après Lots of activities

Spectacular views of Mont Blanc aren’t the only bonus of the glacier - this ‘upside down’ ski resort is one of the most snow-sure in the Alps, so much so that you can ski here in the summertime. Much loved for its après ski, the town's main strip is bursting with some of the best bars in the mountains.

Grenoble is the closest airport with a transfer time of just under 2 hours, making the resort accessible by road. The resort was first used for skiing as early as 1925 when the first ski tow was built. The “Les Deux Alpes”, as we know it today, was established in 1946. It is commonly assumed that the name is derived from the two mountains on either side of the town when in reality the name stems from the two villages on either side of the settlement: Mont De Lans and Venosc. The resort is compact, and you’...
There are plenty of beginner slopes on the front face with runs like les Vikings and Les Gentianes for those learning to ski. The great thing about Les Deux Alpes is that there are some terrific beginner slopes higher up the mountain so new skiers can experience the benefits of skiing at altitude. The Cretes area at 2100m is the favourite spot for ski schools, with the ski escalator a welcome aid to those learning to ski. The run home at the end of the day used to have a fearsome reputation for being overcrowded...
You don’t have to look far to find good après in Les Deux Alpes. One of the best bars in resort is Pano bar, this slopeside restaurant, based at 2,600m comes alive at happy hour between 3 pm and 5 pm every day with discounted drinks and a DJ set that will vibrate through your whole body. At the bottom of the piste, Umbrella bar is a great place to keep the party going. If you want to take the night further then Smithy’s is the place to go, with great modern music as well as live entertainment on several night...
