Overview: chalet description: Chalet Chamois Volant description

Top-notch facilities- Chamois Volant started life as a traditional farm dwelling before being totally renovated and modernised with the most stylish and tasteful of makeovers. The chalet is spread over four floors, the ground floor entrance leads into the open-plan living area which is full of the character of the building with its original stone, vaulted ceilings and stone floor. The centrepiece is a large wood-burning stove around which comfy leather sofas are arranged, creating the most welcoming venue for that well-deserved afternoon tea or early aperitif. The dining area has a large wooden table that comfortably seats up to 16 guests in a well-lit room. The stone features throughout the building continue up, on the first, second and third floors into the well-appointed bedrooms which all have en suite bathrooms.

Excellent perks- Warm your boots on the heated boot dryers while you soothe those tired limbs in the Hot Tub on the balcony off the first floor and enjoy the splendid mountain views. Furthermore, you can enjoy delicious coffee with the bean-to-cup machine provided. Free WiFi is provided and one parking space is available, early booking is essential.

Rustic and characteristic- The generous use of seasoned timber, exposed stonework and original stone vaulted ceilings give the chalet a delightfully charming and typically French rustic feel. The sumptuous fabrics adorning the bedrooms, the smart, modern bathrooms and the inspired use of traditionally crafted furnishings throughout have transformed this 19th-century stone farm building into a highly desirable chalet for groups and families alike.

Flexibility- The chalet comfortably sleeps 14 people in the seven bedrooms, but the property also features two extra children beds to sleep a maximum of 14 adults and 2 children. Please call for details.

Spectacular views of Mont Blanc aren’t the only bonus of the glacier - this ‘upside down’ ski resort is one of the most snow-sure in the Alps, so much so that you can ski here in the summertime. Grenoble is the closest airport with a transfer time of just under 2 hours, making the resort accessible by road. The resort was first used for skiing as early as 1925 when the first ski tow was built. The “Les Deux Alpes”, as we know it today, was established in 1946. It is commonly assumed that the name is derived from the two mountains on either side of the town when in reality the name stems from the two villages on either side of the settlement: Mont De Lans and Venosc. The resort is compact, and you’...
There are plenty of beginner slopes on the front face with runs like les Vikings and Les Gentianes for those learning to ski. The great thing about Les Deux Alpes is that there are some terrific beginner slopes higher up the mountain so new skiers can experience the benefits of skiing at altitude. The Cretes area at 2100m is the favourite spot for ski schools, with the ski escalator a welcome aid to those learning to ski. The run home at the end of the day used to have a fearsome reputation for being overcrowded...
You don’t have to look far to find good après in Les Deux Alpes. One of the best bars in resort is Pano bar, this slopeside restaurant, based at 2,600m comes alive at happy hour between 3 pm and 5 pm every day with discounted drinks and a DJ set that will vibrate through your whole body. At the bottom of the piste, Umbrella bar is a great place to keep the party going. If you want to take the night further then Smithy’s is the place to go, with great modern music as well as live entertainment on several night...

"Nice hot tub!"

Annie, East Sussex
4/ out of 5
We had a nice time here. The hot tub was really great and the whole place is clean and cosy. The chalet has a good location close to the lifts and stuff. Food and wine was really good, they had a nice menu with generous portions – there was a lot to eat! Thought the hosts were brilliant. Our bedroom was fine with enough space and we had one of those big elephant showers which was really nice.

"Beautiful chalet, great food!"

It’s a lovely chalet, beautiful building, very clean and well-appointed in quite a good location. One thing we ended up doing was hiring lockers near the ski school which made the walk much easier with the kids. It probably took us about ten minutes to walk over, but it might take less time without little ones! The host was brilliant and the food we had was amazing! I would recommend it to other families – it’s really near the sledging park area which was handy when we came back with the kids. The hot tub on the balcony was good too. It was such a nice chalet that we didn’t do much other than ski and hang out there afterwards!

"Best in Les Deux Alpes"

Les Deux Alpes runs for over a mile along a valley and this chalet is at the far end in the old and definitely more picturesque end of the resort. The chalet is attractive and comfortable and has the added bonus of a hot-tub on the first floor balcony. There are great views over the valley from the surrounding streets. The Diable chairlift is three minutes walk and you can also come down in this lift if you don'f fancy skiing. We will certainly return to this one.

"CHALET CHAMOIS VOLANT 8-15 MARCH 2014"

Ian Moffatt

Generally had an excellent holiday with superb weather and pretty good snow. Have enjoyed 2 previous holidays in this chalet and in the intervening period this chalet had been raised to 'signature' status. Some of the signature services didn't materialise which may well have been due to the original chalet hosts having walked out just prior to our arrival and their place was taken by substitutes drafted in at the last minute. This not in any way a criticism of the replacement guys who did an excellent job given the circumstances.

"Friendly staff, comfy rooms, nice jacuzzi"

Adam, Redhill

I found the chalet really nice, the staff were very friendly. The food was good, a pretty high quality and everyone was very complimentary of it. The ceilings are a little low downstairs in the communal area but this wasn’t a huge hardship. The room I had (right at the bottom, the first one you come to as you walk up the stairs) was very comfortable and everyone seemed pleased with the other rooms. The jacuzzi was very nice, we had a decent view of the mountains and it was good to have a sun terrace outside. It’s very conveniently close to the town as well.

"Flying Goat? Fast gazelle perhaps."

Sno man, Sno Staff

This incredible farm building is the reason people love rustic chalet conversions. Wood crossed with exposed stone, contrasting against the modern amenities one would expect from an upmarket chalet, large groups will love Chamois Volant for its style as well as location. The ski bus is a couple of minutes’ walk away, while the piste is only 230 metres from your door, making it wonderfully picturesque walking past beautiful barns, and surrounded by snowy piste. The fact that is it just five minutes from the town, and all rooms are en-suite (double check this) simply adds to the huge appeal of this lovely chalet.
