Location: where is Chalet Baren

Nasserein. Chalet Baren is in a first class location for the skiing. The piste is 30 metres (approx.) from the back of the property and a gentle 200 metre ski from here is the Nasserein Ski School and the Nassereinbahn Gondola. For much of the season it is possible, in normal snow conditions, to ski back to the chalet. In the picturesque hamlet of Nasserein, the oldest part of St Anton, Chalet Baren is a 10 minute stroll to the centre of this attractive and lively resort.

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Baren description

This chalet is an old traditional building with a new exterior and a spacious homely feel. The attractive bedrooms, many with wooden panelling, all have basins and provide comfortable accommodation with traditional Austrian decor. Chalet Baren also benefits from a separate lounge with TV and dining area. Due to local regulations, we are no longer able to offer social skiing by our staff in St Anton. We are able however to offer one day's social skiing in Sonnenkopf (for a small transport fee, subject to demand and weather conditions).

Brimming with traditional Austrian charm but with all the conveniences of a modern resort, St Anton's vast, high altitude ski area and vibrant atmosphere make it truly world class. It's one of the major international destinations that everyone must visit at least once (and is likely to return to frequently thereafter). Two minutes from the train station and less than an hour's drive from Innsbruck airport, it's a conveniently accessible resort. The main village is traffic free and stretches for about 1km - dot...
It's often said that if you learn to ski or snowboard here, you're likely to find any other resort an utter breeze... Just don't do a Bridget Jones (her memorable descent in 'Edge of Reason' took place on one of the more challenging Arlberg runs) and make sure to take advantage of the excellent tuition on offer. Thanks to local legend Hannes Schneider, St Anton opened the first ski school in 1921. The Skischule Arlberg continues to provide excellent tuition today, so beginners are in good hands. There's a nurs...
The après ski here is absolutely legendary: the atmosphere is constantly buzzing and with a night bus running until 3am, you can really make the most of your evening. You'll find about 20 bars offering a variety of scenes, but to experience après ski at its best you can't leave until you've joined the masses and danced on the tables at world-famous Mooserwirt or The Crazy Kangaroo (Krazy Kanguruh). While it's reputation is lively (and the resort lives up to it) there are lots of options if you prefer a more so...

"1st time in a catered chalet"

Richard Wootton, Sussex
4/ out of 5
It was our first experience in a catered chalet as well as our first time skiing in Austria and we had a very good week all round. The guests we stayed with were very nice and the people who looked after us all were excellent. They cooked us something different every night and it was a bit like being in a restaurant. Everything was very well organised and presented, no complaints at all. The bedrooms were, as expected, basic - just how they’re described on the website. The location would have been perfect if there had been snow going down to the chalet, but it was the end of the season and that’s what you get sometimes. We just needed to take the bus to the next lift along which took us up the mountain.

Under standard snow conditions however, guests are able to ski straight to the gondola from the chalet. While not all the rooms are en-suite, they are all reasonably spacious, giving you plenty of room to either lounge with friends, or individually. For a social life, the quieter bars are just round the corner (like Tom Dooley Café). The wilder nights out can be found a brief ten minute walk away in places like Alibar Bar and St Anton Bar, so whatever you fancy, you won’t be too far from the entertainment.
