All of us were impressed by the chalet and the service given by the chalet hosts who provided fantastic service and food. My friend commented that it was the best food she had in 20 years of doing chalet holidays. The chalet host even showed off by making a swan out of an apple every night for the cheese board!... + more

Location: where is Chalet Balkiss

Chalet Balkiss occupies a great location within the chalet quarter area of La Tania, and is conveniently situated for both piste and village access.

The closest piste (snow condition/piste access dependent*) is just a 2 minute walk from the chalet towards the bottom of the Moretta Blanche run, which is wide and levels out at this point, just above the La Tania télécabine.

For those who prefer, the pedestrian elevator to the piste is just 200m from the chalet. From the bottom of the elevator you are in La Tania village (for access to the shops, restaurants, bars and ski shops), or you can head around the corner to the ski school meeting points. or the télécabine, from the top of which you quickly find yourself in the heart of the vast Three Valleys ski area.

There are two designated covered carport parking spaces for Chalet Balkiss guests.

* Access Update

We have been made aware that Moretta Blanche piste will not be open during the Winter 23/24 season due to development towards the bottom of the piste.Access to the télécabine will be on foot via the public elevator which is located in the Grand Bois apartment block. We expect that this will remain the case into Winter 2024/25.

Nestled in the forests between Courchevel and Meribel offering excellent access to both resorts, La Tania is known as the Three Valleys' best-kept secret. Proud to be eco-friendly, the resort facilities are powered by a hydro-electric system and has a car-free centre. Despite its modernity, the village has been designed in-keeping with traditional wooden Savoyard architecture, integrated amongst the beautiful forest scenery. The local businesses are mostly Brit-owned, but visitors can still find very French si...
Long green, blue and red tree-lined slopes overlook the village, and the Three Valleys provides a ginormous amount of opportunities for all different abilities. You can make your way over to Courchevel and Meribel on skis alone. There is a wide range of ski and snowboard schools offering group and private lessons for all ages. There are gentle green runs for novices from the top of the gondola all the way back down to the centre. The blue run ‘Folyères’ on the other side of the lifts is a great place to de...
After a day on the slopes, La Tania is a peaceful base to unwind in. The atmosphere is mostly quiet and relaxed, but some après fun can be found. Le Bouc Blanc is a popular restaurant at the top of the gondola from the village, ideal for relaxing in the sun with a drink on a deckchair. Great value for money, prices are a fraction to those in other places. Pub Le Ski Lodge attracts most of the nightlife, hosting regular live music performances and themed nights. The crowds gather for happy hour, and they air the...

"December 2014"

Snow conditions were a little bit on the thin side but it was a cracking week none the less, not least due to the wonderful hosts in Chalet Balkiss. I am sure you would never say as much but I kind of half expect there might be the odd 'hiccup' if you go the very first week of the season, and especially if the hosts are 'new' hosts but they could not have been any better. They were extremely professional, getting a good balance between joining in with us all as guests and keeping a little distance. Nothing seemed too big a request, they never appeared in least flustered or under pressure and the food was really very good …. possibly too good as some in our party would argue having stood on the scales on returning home!

thanks for a great holiday at Chalet Balkiss …. we had a fabulous time, largely down to the chalet hosts who did a fantastic job. I've stayed in many chalets and I have to say they were excellent - not only did they deliver well cooked tasty food, on-time every day, but nothing was too much trouble for them. They kept the chalet very clean and tidy and were always on hand with advice. In addition they were just a lovely friendly and welcoming couple who made us feel at ease right from the start.

All of us were impressed by the chalet and the service given by the chalet hosts who provided fantastic service and food. My friend commented that it was the best food she had in 20 years of doing chalet holidays. The chalet host even showed off by making a swan out of an apple every night for the cheese board! The chalet was spotless and small things like enough sofas in the lounge for everyone to sit down at the same time, and coat hooks in the rooms make a big difference. The chalet is in a great position and it was a good quality chalet without being "stuffy"
