Open since 1988, SCHNEEKARHÜTTE is proud to serve fresh, local food. Delicious meals can be enjoyed from the restaurant menu from 9am – 4pm. Fresh sushi is served once a week and there’s weekly DJ and live band nights too. Actionclub Zillertal Actionclub Zillertal is passionate about outdoor activities, both in the rivers and on dry land; they organise everything from mountain tours, biking and climbing to rafting, tubing and canyoning. Family rafting is one of their most popular trips because it’s such good fun to do together. Canyoning, too, is excellent here – there are varying levels of intensity and you’ll go with a knowledgeable and capable guide. With all of their excursions, safety is a major priority, as is conservation.
Schettla’s Boulderhalle The boulderhalle’s a great place to fine-tune your climbing skills and work on your physical strength. Children are welcome, too and it’s ideal for taking your fist tentative steps into the sport. This is largely to do with the emphasis on safety that the owners have put in place; it makes it easy to challenge yourself knowing that you are in no real danger.
Nature Park Zillertal Mayrhofen sits just outside this enormous (379km2) nature park, which reaches over 3,000m at its highest point. It’s focused heavily on conservation and the protection of native plants and animals but the team who run it also make it a priority for people to enjoy what the park has to offer. Recreation is very important to them and they’re really proud of the stunning scenery. Their Summer Programme revolves around 230 thematic guided hiking tours and educational days out. Golf Club Zillertal Golf Club Zillertal offers brilliant facilities, just a short distance from Mayrhofen. It covers around 65 acres and has only recently been extended to a full 18-hole course and Green fees are pretty reasonable. Their schooling programme is designed to accommodate complete beginners as well as seasoned veterans looking to hone their craft. The driving range is fantastic and there’s also a putting and chipping green as well as practice areas so you can really work on whatever aspect of your game you like.
Max Hurzeler Bike Station With so many cycle routes to explore it’s great to know that there are places on hand to rent you a bike to suit whatever excursions you have planned. That means a variety of different mountain, road and sport bikes all built to deal with slightly differing terrains. The shop also sells clothing and equipment for cyclists. For those who aren’t sure exactly where they want to go, the Bike Station offer cycling tours to help you explore and get to know the mountain. There are gentle routes as well as more challenging trips for more experienced cyclists.
Mayrhofen is lovely working town but is compact enough to walk around easily. There plenty of shops of all types in the resort, most located on the High Street (Hauptstrasse). These include specialised and fashion shops, arts, crafts and souvenirs.
