This picturesque Austrian village is a 90 minute drive from the city of Salzburg within easy access from Salzburg, Klagenfurt and Ljubljana airports or St Johann Im Pongau train station if you’re travelling by rail.
It is located in the eastern region of the Austrian Alps. The highest point of the ski area is 1808 m and the resorts altitude is 800m. Alpendorf is a fairly small local ski resort that has good links to surrounding larger resorts. It is part of the Ski Amadé region of Austria which is a network of 28 ski areas. This means that you will be able to experience a variety of different ski resorts from one destination. The scenic location, alongside the charm and authenticity of the resort, makes this an amazing place to enjoy a skiing holiday. The resort boasts some of the best ski lifts around (with heated seats and drag runs for snowboarders) which provide connections to other ski resorts in the area. This is a particularly great place to learn to ski as the resort caters to new skiers with excellent beginners ski slopes.

Alpendorf has a number of great restaurants if you fancy a quiet winter warmer and some hearty nourishment rather than a full-blown night out - there is nothing better than a good meal to warm you up after a day of skiing. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from suiting a variety of taste and Austrian cuisine is well worth a try!The majority of the restaurants are family friendly and will cater for children. If you fancy an intimate, romantic evening then Hotel Oberforsthof provides award winning fine dining and an atmosphere to match. Buchauhütte is an amazing mountain restaurant with wonderful views and delicious food. The restaurant works on a self-service basis and is a great way to spend a quiet evening whilst at the resort.
The Austrians are known for hosting the best après ski and there’s an excellent selection of after ski activity to suit everybody’s tastes, whether you fancy a drink in a mountain hut or a dance in a bar. You’ll find five traditional mountain huts to enjoy a drink in and numerous restaurants where you can spend a pleasant evening. Après ski is a great way to mingle with fellow skiers and get to know the locals; it’s one of the best parts of skiing! The Après Ski Bar is a hut that always offers an excellent night out. It’s located directly next to the ski lifts making it an ideal place to start drinking once you’ve finished on the slopes. Every Thursday evening from 8pm the bar plays dance music and often has guest DJs, so party goers are guaranteed a great night out. Friday evenings start early, with skiers attending an après ski party that starts at 3pm and goes on into the night. This is a great place to end your week of skiing dancing the night-away with fellow skiers!
There are plenty of other activities to keep non-skiers entertained while the rest of your party is on the slopes. There are plenty of sporting facilities in the resort, so whether you are interested in football or tennis there will be something to suit you. If you fancy a relaxing day, there are some great options: the Diesel Cinema screens films in their original language every other Thursday so is a great place to go with the family and watch the latest blockbuster. Many of the hotels offer spa facilities so non-skiers can spend the day being pampered and join their party relaxed and rejuvenated in time for some après ski fun!
