Overview: hotel description: Alpin Hotel Garni Eder description

The Garni Eder’s built up a great reputation over the years thanks to the friendly, personal service. It’s just outside the resort centre on the edge of a pine forest, so it’s lovely and quiet in the evenings. If you do fancy a little more action, the lively resort centre's just a short stroll away. And even better, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the gondolas.

As for the hotel, it’s as authentic as it gets, with its balcony, arched doorways and wooden panelling on the walls and ceilings.

You days here will start with a fab breakfast buffet, so you can fill up on fresh bread and locally sourced jams, honey and meat. Then in the evenings, you're free to explore all the excellent restaurants around Mayrhofen.

Staff were absolutely fantastic. Husband and wife looked us very well. By far the best treatment we’ve ever had at a hotel. Just breakfast, but good portions and good variety. Staff gave great recommendations for restaurants in town for lunch/dinner. Ski lifts 7-10 minute casual walk. We had a locker at the lifts so we did not have to carry our equipment with us every time. No issues at all. Would highly recommend the hotel to family’s/friend groups.

The practical things – it’s close to both the Penken and Ahorn lifts (an easy five minute walk) although it’s uphill back from the town. Our room was gorgeous; we got the last couple of rooms left and were given the larger room which was one of the best I’ve stayed in. I would definitely pay for the upgrade. They cooked something fresh for breakfast every morning, with a different option every day as well as cereal, bread, porridge etc. They didn’t do dinner in the hotel but you could pay for a half board package which included meals in a nearby restaurant. We didn’t opt for this but ended up in the restaurant most days anyway (even though there was plenty of choice in town). Everything we ordered was fine and it was only a five minute walk from the hotel. The whole place was spotless. There was a heated room for our boards and things and we each had our own key so you could let yourself in. The staff were great and the lady in charge was an angel, I went into Germany one day and she sat me down with maps etc, telling me the best places to go. I would definitely recommend this hotel and want to stay here again!
