London City Airport (LCY) is the nearest airport to Central London - within half an hour of Bank and ten minutes from Canary Wharf.
In 2015, it won “Airport of the Year” in the London Transport Awards and was also declared the UK’s most punctual airport.
Driving to London City Airport:
London City Airport’s postcode for Sat Navs: E16 2PX. For the terminal car parks, the postcode is E16 2PB.
Driving from the M25: Leave the M25 at junction 30 for the A13 towards London. Continue on the A13 until the A406/A1020 ramp at the North Circular. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Connaught Bridge. At the second roundabout, take the first exit onto Connaught Rd/A112 and continue on Connaught Rd/A112 after the next roundabout. At the Airport Road/ Hartmann Road exit, turn left and follow signs to the terminal and car parks.
Parking at London City Airport:
There is a drop off zone at the forecourt by the terminal building, but you’re not allowed to wait there or leave your car unattended.
The Short Stay car park is within a five minute walk of the terminal. Last time we checked, up to 10 minutes parking cost £2.50, 1 day’s parking cost around £60, and 4 days cost £236 (discounts of up to 30% were offered for pre-booking stays of 1 day and over).
The Long Stay car park is within a 5-10 minute walk of the terminal. A 7 day stay cost around £343 on the day, but pre-booked parking was around 75% cheaper.
Valet parking is available in the Short Stay car park. Bike and motorbike parking is usually free under the DLR viaduct.
Public Transport to/from London City Airport:
London City Airport Buses:
The 473 bus runs between the North Woolwich Ferry and Stratford Broadway, calling at Kennard Street, London City Airport, Newham University Hospital and Plaistow Station.
The 474 runs between Canning Town and Manor Park Station, calling at George Street, West Silverton, London City Airport, Lord Street, North Woolwich Ferry, Newham Town Hall and East Ham Station.
Trains to/from London City Airport:
London City Airport is a Zone 3 stop on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), which connects to the London Underground. 60% of travellers use the DLR to reach the airport. Departing every 8-15 minutes, it links the airport to Canning Town and Woolwich Arsenal in under 10 minutes, and to Stratford International in under 20 minutes.
For National Rail, the nearest stations are London Bridge, Waterloo and Stratford International – which can be reached by taking the DLR to Canning Town, then the Jubilee Line to your chosen rail station.
Taxis to/from London City Airport:
The airport works with Minicabit which provides transport between the airport and more than forty cities in the UK. Licenced black taxis also operate from outside the terminal building.
Coaches to/from London City Airport:
National Express run coaches to Canary Wharf, Bank and Stratford, which can be linked to the airport via public transport or taxi.

Food & Drink:
Before security, Pret a Manger and Panopolis have drinks and snacks. After security, rhubarb serves modern British food, the City Bar has a grill, pasta and salad menu and Illy and Café Nero sell coffee and other drinks.
Shopping:
There are shops before and after the security. Last time we checked, the departures area had an Aelia Duty Free shop, a fashion shop selling designer brands, a Boots and a WHSmith. There’s a collect on return service if you don’t want to bring what you’ve bought to the ski resort.
Wi-Fi:
Free Wi-Fi is usually available throughout the terminal. See if you can still pre-register a username and password before you reach the airport.
