Liverpool ski holidays
Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) is on the estuary of the River Mersey about 8 miles southeast of the city centre.
With flights to airports near ski resorts including Geneva, Grenoble and Salzburg, it’s excellent for those living in North West England.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is easy to get to from the North West via the M56, M57, M62 and from the North East via A1, M6 and M1.
Driving from the north / north east: Follow the M6 southbound, then leave at junction 21A via the slip road for the M62 to Liverpool. Continue west on the M62, then at junction 6 take the A5300. Turn onto the A561 and follow signs to the airport.
Driving from the south / east: Take the M6 southbound, exiting at junction 20 for the M56. Continue on the M56 until junction 12, then move onto the A557/A562 dual carriageway (via Runcorn Bridge) and merge onto the A561. The rest of the route should be clearly signposted.
Driving from North Wales: Take the A55 and continue onto the M56 eastbound. At junction 12, enter the A557/A562 dual carriageway through Runcorn Bridge then continue onto the A561. Then follow airport signposting.
Driving from Wirral: During rush hour, it’s often easier to take the M53 and M56. Leave at junction 12 for the A557/A562 dual carriageway, going via the Runcorn Bridge and merge onto the A561. The alternative route is via Liverpool city centre and Mersey Tunnels, which is often very busy at peak times.
Parking at Liverpool Airport:
Express Drop Off & Pick Up – around £2 for 20 minutes, right opposite the terminal.
Drop Off 2 – free for the first 20 minutes, between 5 and 10 minutes from the terminal.
Long Stay car park - £80 for 7 days last time we checked (but a lot cheaper if you book online in advance), about a 5 minute walk from the terminal.
Multi-Storey car park – £35 a day last time we checked for undercover parking opposite the terminal (about a minute’s walk away).
Premium car park – as close to the terminal as it gets, right next door. Pre booking is essential.

Trains to/from Liverpool Airport:
Liverpool South Parkway is the closest station, 2 miles away. The Arriva 86, 86A & 86D buses run between the station and the airport. The station has trains to destinations including Liverpool Lime Street, Manchester Oxford Road, Southport, Hunts Cross, Scarborough, Southport, Preston (Lancs) and Norwich.
Taxis to/from Liverpool Airport:
Hackney Cabs have a rank right outside the airport terminal. Private taxis are required to use pick up and drop off points in the car parks.
Coaches to/from Liverpool Airport:
Terravision have a coach service between Liverpool Airport and Manchester city centre. The journey takes about 50 minutes.

The Aspire Premium Lounge provides clients with complimentary drinks, snacks and Wi-Fi.
Food and Drink:
The likes of Starbucks and Caffe Ritazza are available for drinks and snacks, while Wetherspoons and Frankie & Benny’s serve hot meals.
Shopping:
Shops after security include JD sports, World Duty Free, WH Smith and Boots. You can also order travel money beforehand and pick it up when you arrive in the terminal.
Wi-Fi:
Last time we checked the airport had free Wi-Fi for up to 30 minutes.
