We don’t have any classic ski chalets in Ylläs, but you will find some over in Levi if you’re keen on a chalet holiday and are happy to stay in another top Lapland resort. It’s definitely worth checking out the log cabins here if you want an authentic Lapland break - you’ll find the Ylläs Log Cabins tucked cosily in the forest – a super choice if you’re a XC skier as you can do this from the door. The Äkäs Log Cabins are in the village of Äkäslompolo, which is a great spot for seeing the Northern Lights.

You’ll have the cabin to yourselves, whereas in a chalet you might be sharing with other people. To make things even better, most cabins are kitted out with a sauna and fireplace to help you keep lovely and warm in the sub zero climate. Often the cabins are connected with a local hotel too, so you can sometimes use facilities like swimming pools and even opt for half board in the hotel restaurant, giving you a similar catering option to what you’d find in a chalet.
