Positioned on the west coast of the lake, Maderno is a pretty and quiet resort where you can enjoy a relaxed summer holiday in Lake Garda.
July is the hottest month of the year here, which makes Maderno’s fantastic beach a welcome aspect of the area. This is great for a lazy day in the sunshine, where you can lie back in a deckchair, paddle and swim in the clear water and enjoy a gorgeous view across the lake.
For a more active experience of Maderno, take a hike or bike ride around the Alto Garda Bresciano national park, which offers some welcome shade in the warmest summer months. Also great if you’re looking for somewhere to cool down in the heat of the day and soak up some culture and history are the local churches - Sant Andrea is well known as one of the most beautiful churches in the region and if you enjoy art, you can see Celesti’s paintings in Santi Pietro e Paolo. You can hire a boat to explore the lake further and if you want to stay somewhere in Lake Garda where you can play golf, Maderno is great: the Bogliaco offers a fantastic 18 hole Course with a spectacular lake view.
Maderno is nearby Gardone Rivera which is superb if you want to take a day out and explore another Lake Garda resort. It’s less than ten minutes away by car, within reasonable walking distance and also easily accessible by public transport. Spend the daytime wandering around the town and visit the Heller botanical gardens, which are stunning in the summer months. Stay on into the evening and book tickets for the arts festival to see performances from top dancers and musicians from around the world.
We love Maderno’s quiet, laid back atmosphere as well as its proximity to Gardone Riviera for fantastic days out. If you prefer to stay in a busier Italian town, see our accommodation in Desenzano and Riva.
