Scenic Torri is a lovely place to stay in October if you’re looking for Italian village charm in a cool climate and peaceful, laid back environment.
If you’re looking for a summer holiday in a traditionally warm climate, its best to visit Torri del Benaco in the temperate months of May and September, or the warmest months of June, July and August but, if warm weather is not on your perfect-holiday tick-list, read on.
Torri’s climate is mild in October with temperatures up to 18°C and a few days of rain. Enjoy the autumn sunshine from the harbour and in dry weather, take advantage of the cooler temperatures on a lakeside walk to Punta San Vigilio which is the peninsula between Torri and Garda. While there is rain in Torri in October, it provides the ideal excuse to visit the The Scaliger Castle and its museum, wander round Torri’s Romanesque churches or explore the variety of shops and cafes.
Torri’s location half way down the east side of Lake Garda makes it perfect if you want to explore other Lake Garda towns during your holiday, with all towns an easy drive or boat ride away. If you’re booking a holiday in Torri in October, make sure you head to the north to cheer on the marathon runners or for something more cultural, go down the lake to Bardolino (it’s about a 12 minute drive) for the grape and wine festival. This annual celebration of the grape harvest is one of the main events on the lake’s calendar and includes lots of food, wine, live music and an amazing firework display.
Torri is brilliant for having something for everyone and we love the mild weather and quiet atmosphere you find here in October. If you’d prefer somewhere with a busier lake-town atmosphere stay in Riva or Desenzano or, for the best autumn sunshine, visit Peschiera.
