One of Lake Garda’s sportiest resorts, there are some fantastic walking and cycling routes to enjoy in Torbole and May is a brilliant time to do these before the weather heats up. Thanks to its position in the north of the lake, the resort sees refreshing breezes which are more than welcome on active holidays. It’s thanks to these winds that windsurfing is so popular here - Torbole is a top wind-surfing destination and events in May include the Trofeo Neirotti wind-surfing regatta. The BMX Italian Circuit race goes through here in May and nearby Riva hosts many sailing regattas throughout the month.
For some lovely walking and cycling in Torbole, try Mount Brione and the Sacra riverside or take the promenade down to Riva. Other good things to do in Torbole in May include visiting museums, castle ruins and forts, shopping and simply relaxing in one of Torbole’s great cafes.
Torbole is fantastic for water sports at this time of year because you can make the most of the water before the peak season when it gets a lot busier. However, it’s not the top resort to visit in May if you prefer a warmer and more sheltered environment. If an active holiday or wind-surfing isn’t your priority, you’ll find the more southern resorts like Desenzano and Sirmione feel a lot warmer in May.
