Peschiera’s warm, sunny September climate doesn’t have the heat intensity of the peak months of June, July or August, but still creates a very summery holiday. We think September is the perfect time to go if you want to enjoy this Lake Garda suntrap more comfortably.
A popular resort because of its excellent location for day trips, Peschiera gets quite busy during the summer months so if you’re not bound by school holidays, September is a fantastic time to stay here. Peschiera is one of only a couple of lake resorts that has its own train station, which makes it a fantastic base for a holiday if you want to visit places like Venice, Verona and Milan (which are also less busy in September than in the summer months). Other days out nearby can include the Parco Natura Viva zoo, Gardaland if you like themeparks and Sigurta park which has some stunning botanical areas to explore on foot or bike.
If you want to do some walking or cycling on your holiday and don’t want to be held back by the heat and business of the high season, this is the month to visit. Peschiera has some lovely tree lined walks along the lakeside and bike rides along the Mincio river. For some time out around the town, there are marinas, lovely pebble beaches and a traffic free town centre with friendly cafes and bars. And it doesn’t have to be steamy-hot to justify one of the famously fab local ice creams!
Because it’s a less busy month, September is a great time to stay in Peschiera and enjoy its nearby attractions without having to battle the crowds, and the weather is great too. Another Lake Garda town with a handy train station is Desenzano but, if you’d prefer to stay somewhere cooler, try towns further to the north like Riva and Limone which get a refreshing mountain breeze.
