Peschiera has a sunny southern position on Lake Garda, so if you want to stay somewhere in October that gets the best of the autumn sunshine (average temperature highs of 18°C), this is an excellent choice. Usually heaving in the summer months, Peschiera is a lot quieter in October, making this an ideal time to stay if you want more space and time to enjoy the surroundings.
If you’re looking for a summer holiday in a traditionally warm climate, its best to visit Peschiera in the temperate months of May and September, or the warmest months of June, July and August but, if warm weather is not on your perfect-holiday tick-list, read on.
In the town itself, you can enjoy some lovely walks in the autumn sunshine while places to go if it’s raining include the Military Museum in the Catullo Park. One of the best things about Peschiera is that it offers easy access to some fantastic days out in the area and like the town itself, these attractions tend to be a lot less busy in October which can make them much more enjoyable! Venice, Verona and Milan are within easy reach via Peschiera’s train station. Gardaland is rarely open in October but its new aquarium is open on most days of the month (check before you go) and is a great place to go in wet weather. On dry days, Parco Natura Viva (a fantastic nearby zoo / safari park) and the Sigurta park and gardens are both open throughout October. A must-do if you’re staying in Peschiera in October is to head up the lake to Bardolino (about 20 minutes in the car) for the Bardolino grape and wine festival.
Peschiera is a fantastic base for a Lake Harda holiday in October if you want to enjoy the best of the autumn sunshine at a quieter time of the year. A larger town that also has great transport links is Desenzano or for somewhere offering a sportier holiday, stay in Torbole or Limone.
