Peschiera has a warmer feel in August than some of the other resorts due to its position on the southern end of Lake Garda, making it a brilliant place to stay if you like your summer holidays hot.
While its Mediterranean style weather is a big selling point in the summer months, Peschiera is also popular for its proximity to some great days out around the lake. Peschiera is one of two resorts with its own train station, offering easy access to Venice, Verona and Milan, so it’s an excellent place to stay if you want to experience other famous Italian destinations. For a day out in stunning surroundings, you can wander, cycle or even take a golf cart around the Sigurta park which has botanical gardens, a maze and a farm as well as 5 cafes. Parco Natura Viva is a zoo nearby that has a safari as well as a dinosaur park which children will love if you’re planning a family break during the school holidays. For an adrenaline packed day out, Peschiera is home to Italy’s most popular theme park, Gardaland and is only a ten minute drive to the Canevaworld Aquapark which is perfect in the hot August weather.
It’s easy to fill your August holiday in Peschiera with fantastic days out, but make sure you take some time to appreciate the local area too. The town has two pebble beaches for sun and lake bathing with friendly beachfront restaurants and bars nearby. There are some lovely walks along the lakeside and bike rides along the Mincio. The hot weather in August is a brilliant excuse to head to the traffic free town centre and look around Peschiera’s shops and cafes, nestle between the tall stone building and sheltered from the midday heat.
Peschiera also hosts the annual bisse race at this time of year where the Lake Garda towns compete for the Lake Flag in traditional Venetian boats. If you like your summer holidays in warm weather and enjoy day trips out too, Peschiera is ideal. For somewhere quieter in August, consider visiting Torri or Maderno.
