If you want to sample Limone in cooler temperatures than the peak summer months, book your holiday here in September. Limone’s position and terrain make it fantastic for both water and land sports and, if you want to do these in cooler temperatures but still enjoy some sunshine, September is great. Limone is at the north end of Lake Garda which makes it brilliant for windsurfing and sailing and, with the Alto Garda Bresciano national park sitting behind, there’s plenty of hiking and mountain biking to enjoy here too.
Rainfall isn’t too heavy in September and temperatures are mostly sunny and warm plus, if you’re caught by a rainy spell, there’s still an awful lot to do and see. Limone has a plethora of characterful shops, churches and museums and you’ll find some great cafes and restaurants around the small harbour, where you can pass the time watching the world go by and enjoying local produce or a homemade ice cream. On warm, dry evenings in September, walk down the promenade, which comes to life near the end of the day with music and lake-front eateries.
We love Limone’s laid back atmosphere in September, not to mention the milder weather and variety of things to do, so if you’re not bound by school term dates a holiday at this time of year give the best compromise between sunshine and comfort. If you’d rather feel the full warmth of the September sun, visit somewhere like Sirmione on the southern shore or, for slightly busier town atmosphere, head further north in Riva.
