Garda town is a popular Lake Garda resort in June and it’s not hard to see why. It has lots on offer to enjoy June’s warm weather from cycling to sunbathing whether you prefer an active or relaxed holiday, or a bit of both.
If you’re staying in Garda at the beginning of June, head over to Bardolino (2 miles, or 5 minutes’ drive) to sample some local Rosé at the Chiaretto Wine Festival. An exciting event here in June is the Regata delle Bisse - a traditional race of Venetian style boats (bisse) between the Lake Garda resorts. This highly competitive and equally fun event takes place every summer on the Lake so, if you’re on holiday in Garda at the time, make sure you get a glimpse of the action.
Lake Garda can be quite hot in June so, to pass the time in the midday sun, you’ll find some lovely gelaterias (ice cream parlours) and shady vineyards for gentle walks. You can walk or cycle down Garda’s tree-lined promenade to Peschiera, where you’ll find the famous Gardaland theme park which has a brilliant aquarium where you can keep cool during the midday heat. Garda is only a 15 minute drive to Canevaworld waterpark which is great for keeping cool in really hot weather, especially if you’re on holiday with children. You’ll find lake bathing and water activities at Val di Sogno and the Parco Baia delle Sirene has a lovely beach with deckchairs, sun loungers, picnic area and activities as well as an amazing view of the sunset.
Garda is one of Lake Garda’s more popular resorts – especially with families - and June is a brilliant time to stay here before the school holidays kick in and the resort gets busier. For a quieter resort, visit Maderno, Torri or Gardone.
