With Garda’s long beach, wide promenade and cool, gelato-filled cafes it’s a great place to stay in July, which sees the warmest temperatures of the year. A popular resort in the summer months, Garda offers a sunny Italian holiday with lots to do both on and around the lake.
Parco Baia delle Sirene is a private beach in Garda which is brilliant for a beach day in hot weather – you can lie back on a sun lounger, swim in the lake and if you’re travelling as a family, it has some superb children’s areas including a sandpit, arts and crafts area and a paddling pool. Garda has lovely warm summer evenings in July, and it’s worth staying later at the Parco Baia delle Sirene just to enjoy an amazing view of the sun as it sets over the lake.
If you’re not busy enjoying the cool lake in the peak temperatures of the day, take a walk around one of Garda’s shady vineyards or enjoy a tasty treat in one of many gelaterias and cafes. Garda has a lovely tree lined promenade which you can walk and cycle down, all the way to Peschiera. It’s only 15 minutes in the car from Garda to the Canevaworld aquapark for a great day out in the July sun and the famous Gardaland (Italy’s largest theme park) is only a 20 minute drive away.
The Garda music festival takes place here in July, as well as the Sardellata al Pal del Vo moonlight festival which is one of the highlights of the town’s calendar. Boats gather under the stars in the middle of the lake to fish for sardines and honour the ancient practices of Lake Garda fisherman and the freshly caught fish is cooked and enjoyed on the spot. This is a fascinating event to take part in if you want to soak up the history and culture of the lake and is particularly magical on a warm, clear summer night.
For its beautiful location, great beach areas and access to fantastic summer days out, Garda is a popular place to stay in July. We love the buzz of people enjoying the sunshine at this time of the year but if you’d rather stay here in a quieter month have a look at our May holidays or, for a holiday in July, visit Torri.
