Shaded from the wind and situated on the sunny southern part of Lake Garda, the Desenzano climate creates a warmer than average summer holiday in June. With temperatures around 27°C, this is somewhere for lazy afternoons at the harbour, beach days on one of Desenzano’s beaches (there are three: Desenzano beach, Rivoltella beach and Porto di Rivoltella) and al fresco dining in the sunshine. Boat trips from and around Desenzano are popular here during the summer months and other activities include horse-riding or perhaps a round of golf at the nearby Chervò Golf San Vigilio. To avoid the midday heat, there are some shady walks through the vineyards, you can browse Desenzano’s fantastic shops or enjoy a cooling gelato in one of many charming cafes.
Desenzano has its own train station and with only a 20 minute ride to Verona and the Arena di Verona Operafestival beginning in June, this is a brilliant base for your Lake Garda holiday if you want to experience the Verona opera for yourself.
Because of Desenzano’s position on Lake Garda, it’s warmer than many resorts here in June. While this is ideal for sun worshipers, those who prefer somewhere with refreshing breezes to take some of the edge off the heat might want to consider visiting somewhere further north like Riva or breezy Torbole.
