To enjoy the stunning surroundings, good food and legendary local wine at a quieter and cooler time of year, book a Bardolino holiday in October.
If you’re looking for a summer holiday in a traditionally warm climate, its best to visit Bardolino in the temperate months of May and September, or the warmest months of June, July and August but, if warm weather is not on your perfect-holiday tick-list, read on.
While a holiday at this time of year won’t include glorious summer weather, there’s so much going on during October that it’s still a great time to visit. A celebration of the grape harvest for the famous local wines, Bardolino’s annual grape and wine festival makes October a brilliant time to book your holiday. The festival includes food stalls, music concerts and an amazing firework display and adds a fantastic atmosphere to the area. Other events in October include a honey festival and olive oil fair in nearby Lazise which are well worth the 10 minute drive.
Temperatures are still quite warm here in October (up to 18°C) and there is something to do come rain or shine. Bardolino has rainfall on around 8 days in October and rainy spells are the ideal opportunity to visit the area’s religious and historical buildings. Some beautiful churches include San Severo, San Zeno and Pieve di Santa Maria and the wine and olive oil museums are well worth a visit.
In our opinion Bardolino is the place to be on a Lake Garda holiday in October – and we’ve got some brilliant October holiday offers to seal the deal if you think so too. If you like the sound of the climate but would rather stay somewhere quieter, try Torri which is a bit further up the lake or for warmer weather in October visit Sirmione.
