With Bardolino’s south-easterly position on Lake Garda and temperature highs of 23°C in May, you’re likely to enjoy a sunny May holiday in Bardolino. Sitting outside in one of its terrace cafes, wandering around the shops and down the lakeside promenade (you can walk all the way to Garda and it’s a little easier in this cooler month).

Anyone who’s been to Bardolino in May will tell you that the weather can often intersperse the glorious sunshine some cloud and even rain. What’s great about this time of year is that there’s something to do whatever the weather. When they do come, rain showers are usually short and followed by sunshine, and wet weather is a great opportunity to visit the wine and olive oil museums and the San Severo, San Zeno and Pieve di Santa Maria churches to soak up the culture and history of the area.

One of the biggest events in Bardolino’s calendar is the Chiaretto Rosé Wine Festival which usually takes place in the last week of May. Here you can sample Bardolino’s famous Rosé wine and enjoy music, entertainment and children’s activities, which are great if you’re travelling as a family to Bardolino over May half term.

Bardolino is one of the best places to be on Lake Garda in May because there’s lots going on. For somewhere quieter in the same area, visit in Gardone Riviera or for more sunshine look further south to Peschiera or Desenzano.
