Things to do & see in Bardolino

With plenty of activities, places to visit and sights to see, there’s little chance of finding yourself at a loose end in Bardolino. For active holidays on land or water, you’ll find all kinds of opportunity whether you prefer extreme sports or a more leisurely pace. Located in the Provence of Verona, you can easily visit Verona to experience of one the famous Italian towns (look out for the opera festival in the summer months).

There’s a good variety of shops in the town centre and the GrandAffi shopping centre has high street stores like accessorize. It’s all about the vino here with Bardolino’s red and rose wines enjoyed the world over – go wine testing, take a vineyard tour and visit the wine museum to learn all about it. With so much to see and do, make sure you spend some time in the town itself, exploring the historic town centre, relaxing on the lakeside and sampling the varied restaurant scene and vibrant nightlife.

Walking

Bardolino Walking & Hiking: There are some brilliant walking and hiking routes in the vicinity whether you’re looking for a leisurely afternoon stroll or a more challenging hike. Walk along the promenade, through villages and vineyards or take the steep paths near the top of the Rocca del Garda enjoying some lovely churches, historical attractions and spectacular panoramas along the way. For a fantastic walking experience in the hands of an expert, guided walks are available with some holidays. For more adventurous walking holidays, the best months to book your holiday are May and October when the weather is nice and mild.

Cycling

Bardolino Cycling & Mountain Biking: Varied cycling and mountain biking opportunity is available here for a fantastic experience of Lake Garda on two wheels. There are some lovely cycling routes through ancient vineyards and along the promenade up to Garda or down to Cisano and Lazise. Head to Caprino Veronese for the gentle slopes around the bottom of Mont Baldo or climb the mountain for some serious MTB terrain. Whether you’re planning a week of cycling around the lake and mountains or just an afternoon along the riverside, a selection of our hotels offer bike hire and you’ll also find hire shops in the town itself.

Watersports

Bardolino Water sports & Lake activities: Stay here in July, August or September to enjoy the water when it’s lovely and sun-warmed. You can swim in the lake from the beaches including Cisano, Mirabello and Cornicello. Mirabello offers pedalo hire and the Guini boatyard is located near Cornicello if you’re looking for somewhere to hire a boat. They offer a range of boats for customers with and without a boat licence and you can hire a boat by the hour or for a full day. Visit the Waterski center for parasailing, wakeboarding and banana boat rides or the boat club for courses in canoeing, rowing and sailing.

Bardolino Attractions

Zeni, Tenuta La Presa and Cà Bottura

The area is well known for its wine which makes touring one of its vineyards and wineries a must if you want to learn more about the area. Guided tours with wine tastings are usually available on a daily basis.

Museo del Vino

The Museum of wine is located within the Zeni winery in the hills overlooking Lake Garda. The Zeni family have been making wine here for generations and offer a fascinating experience where you’ll learn all about wine making and its history.

Museum Olio Extra Vergine di Olivia

The Olive oil museum attracts 50,000 visitors every year, offering the insight of the Turri family, who have been producing highly acclaimed Olive oil for over 50 years. You’ll learn all about the past and present processes of olive oil making.

Religious buildings

The surrounding area has some lovely churches including San Severo which dates back to the 12th century and 8th century San Zeno. Up on San Giorgio hill, The San Giorgio Hermitage has some brilliant artwork of St George and the dragon.

Weekly market

The lakeside markets are a popular tradition and big park of life on the lake. Stock up on delicious produce and souvenirs at the weekly market which takes place along the promenade every Thursday morning.

Riovalli Parco Acquatico

The Riovalli Waterpark is in Cavaion Veronese – about a 10 min drive away. Great on hot summer days, it has a range of slides and pools including a lagoon and paddling pool as well as a beach volleyball court, plenty of sun loungers and a restaurant.
