The Grand Hotel Bristol started life as the home of an 18th Century nobleman so you know it’s going to be something special when you stay here. The art deco building is on Stresa’s lakefront promenade and opulence runs throughout it - from the stained-glass ceilings in the lobby to the elegantly-designed rooms. We recommend upgrading to a lake view room so you can sit out on the balcony and enjoy the views all day.

There’s a lovely pool outside that’s surrounded by gardens and is a great place to sit back and enjoy the warm weather. You’ll get hints of rosemary and jasmine as you relax next to the Mediterranean plants. There’s a further pool inside that you can use for free. When you’re ready to get out and explore, the centre of Stresa is a short walk away and the ferry port is only ten minutes’ away. The Borromean Islands are just over the water and make for a great day out – explore the botanic gardens and palatial villas. If you fancy eating dinner in the hotel you can expect traditional Italian cuisine and views over the island from the lovely terrace. It’s a lovely place to enjoy a leisurely dinner with a glass or two of wine.

Standard Twin Rooms can sleep up to three people and face the mountains. They have a traditional décor with wooden floors and a balcony. Rooms can have a double bed on request and facilities include air conditioning, TV, safe, minibar, hairdryer and a bath or shower. Breakfast is American buffet style with hot and cold options. If you're choosing half board, dinner will be four courses including an antipasti buffet and dessert trolley. There's a special themed dinner once a week in July and August. Early meals for children can be arranged.

Tre Isole is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers traditional cuisine in an elegant setting. You can enjoy lovely lake views and a wonderful wine list to complement your food.

The Bar is open during the day and into the evening where you can enjoy a nightcap after dinner.
