Our First Family Ski Holiday !
It’s time to introduce our boys to the mountains. We’re desperate for them to love it.
With advice from our wonderful customers, here’s why we chose Club Med.
I’ve worked in ski travel for long enough to know that your first ski holiday is usually the clincher.
You’ll either be hooked, or never give it a second chance.
Not everyone in our industry fully understands how crucial that first trip is:
For people to discover and love skiing and snowboarding, every chalet host and rep and instructor and rental fitter and liftie (and travel agent!) should be triply on-their-metal, when they hear it’s someone’s first time. Desperate to remove every bit of friction or nervousness or inconvenience, to make sure that trip opens up our wonderful world, over a week of thrills and friendly relaxation, set as it is, in this epic landscape of the Gods.
Our amazing customers know it:
When we asked advice, on choosing a trip aimed squarely at getting a newbie to love love love it, there was one solve-all tip which came up repeatedly, so we’ve taken your advice, and booked a Club Med ski holiday.
I’m not the expert in family skiing yet, so here are your reasons why:
David O’Neil, Glasgow: Rating 5 out of 5. Stayed in Club Med Aime La Plagne, Feb 2015.
“Club Med is certainly the way to ski as a family, the affordability of it as all inclusive is just perfect. We’re already looking at another Club Med holiday for the whole family next year. The whole place is very kid orientated. The staff were brilliant, very professional and very diligent with kids as you’d expect. Having full board and lessons included is a really good idea, they should include ski hire in the whole set up too. “
Deborah, Oxfordshire: Rating 5 out of 5. Stayed in Club Med Wengen, Feb 2014.
“We’ve been to Club Med hotels a few times and we find it works for us. The Club Med food is always very good. Everything is included in the price so it’s excellent value for money, last time I think I spent £30 while on holiday as I didn’t have to spend anything on top – lessons, lift pass, all meals, tea, coffee and drinks are included.”
Steve, Monifieth: Rating 5 out of 5. Stayed in Club Med Villars, Feb 2014.
“The staff were excellent, the ski lessons made the week. As an all-in package, the whole Club Med set up is excellent.”
Mrs Hatano, Letchworth: Rating 5/5. Stayed Club Med Cervinia, Dec 2012 (& every year since).
“Club Med holidays are the best if you have children, especially if the adults want to ski too. You take the children to the kids club in their ski clothes and they look after them, put on their boots, put them into groups, take them off to lessons (no having to carry skis), feed them on the mountain and then bring them back at the end of the day for hot chocolate. If the Mum and Dad classes come back later they hold onto them which works really well.”
Maria , Ewell: Rating 5 out of 5. Stayed in Club Med Alpe d’Huez La Sarenne.
“We love Club Med and ski with them a lot, they always have everything at hand, staff are really helpful, they’ve got ski holidays down to a T.”
The “good value” point is often missed, because the basic price booking with Club Med seems higher… until you see it usually includes your lift pass, lessons and childcare all week. Stir in free food and drinks and you can see why skiing with this operator tends to be a cheaper option for families. It’s lovely to saunter into the bar without your wallet!
You can read more reviews and opinions about skiing with them on our Club Med ski holidays page.
Hope they’re as good as everyone says!
Watch this space for our opinion, when we get back, at the end of next week!

ClubMed was our most unsuccessful family ski holiday due to how miserable the 2-3 year old crèche made the children. Our daughter was 2 and a half and had a terrible time. The ratio of children to staff was too high and there were very few activities laid on for them. We went to the Villars hotel.
Esprit and Mark Warner have been much better but our favourite child care has been the Kinderschule in Lech.

Thanks for sharing your experience Giles. It’s a shame your daughter didn’t enjoy the kids crèche at Villars. Did you talk to the staff about her not enjoying it?
We had an amazing time in the Club Med in La Plagne, but our boys are 5 and 7 so were kept busy learning to ski etc. (I made a short video, at top of this page https://www.sno.co.uk/ski-holidays/family/inclusive/ )
Please do ping me an email if you’ve a minute to write a sentence on the Esprit and Mark Warner experiences you had – I’d love to put your review/opinions on the website for others to benefit.
