Overview: hotel description: Ylläskaltio Hotel description

Whether you're here to hit the slopes, explore the arctic circle on a reindeer drawn sleigh or meet Santa, Ylläskaltio Hotel is the perfect place to stay in Yllas. The simple, modern hotel has been designed with lots of great facilities. The large semi-circular restaurant has high ceilings and large windows, which create a really nice open space to enjoy your breakfast and dinner here on half board - the snowy views are an added bonus!

When you're not enjoying the wide open runs of Ylläs or snowmobiling through the wintery landscape, cosy up back at the hotel, have a drink in the bar or relax and make the most of the private sauna in your room - there's one in all of them. The rooms are simple and comfortable. If you're holidaying as a family, go for a family room - they have a mezzanine above the main room with two additional beds.

This gorgeous Lapland resort (pronounced “U-las”) has welcomed skiers since the 1930s and is the biggest of the 35 ski areas in Finland, home to the country’s longest slope, the 3km Jättipitkä run (which translates to ‘enormously long’!). Both villages have remained true to their roots - Ylläsjärvi in the south and Äkäslompolo in the north – and both are authentic, b...
With 63km of downhill slopes, the skiing is fairly compact although over 300km of designated tracks make this one of the best cross-country destinations in the world. Early intermediates will love the wide, cruising runs which are perf...

The Akäs hotel is most popular for a few drinks with a dance floor and club inside, while the restaurants in the resort serve all kinds of local delicacies – reindeer and freshly caught fish are both highly recommend...
