Overview: apartment description: Prestige Résidence L'Éclose description

If being close to the slopes is key for you, these apartments will be right up your street. They share the same building as the Prestige Apart'Hotel L'Éclose, near the Alpe Express gondola. The centre of town is a little further away, but you can hop on the local buses for free with your lift pass that'll get you there in no time. And it's a 15-minute walk to our childcare clubs at the Hotel Les Bergers.

It's industrial meets alpine when it comes to the décor. Cosy spaces with open fireplaces and traditional wood panelling contrast with sleek tiles and concrete walls, giving that traditional mountain style a modern twist. And floor-to-ceiling glass windows in the lobby bring the outside in, giving you a great view of the snow-covered slopes. But one of the best bits about these apartments is the indoor pool. The combo of its pale blue floor and the big, monochrome mountain print on the wall really makes you feel like you're swimming in mountain springs.

You'll stay self-catered here, so you can choose whether to channel your inner chef each evening or head out to taste-test some of Alpe d'Huez's restaurants. There are around 60 to choose from, so whether you're after traditional French food or an international fave, you're covered.

With a transfer time of around 2 hours, Alpe d'Huez is very accessible from Grenoble or Chambery airport. Established in 1936, it was the first resort in France to be installed with a fully operational ski lift. The resort lies in the Grandes Rousses Massif domain. It is partnered by the smaller mountain villages of Auris-en-Oisans, Villard Reculas, Oz-en-Oisans, Vaujany and La Garde, all of which are connected by a free transport system. The slopes are mainly south facing and as a result the area, known as "...
Alpe d’Huez has had sun and snow galore since 1936, and with the culmination of around 20 Million Euros of improvements due to come to fruition for 2021, there is a huge ski area to be explored. With a whopping 52km of greens, this is an excellent place for beginners. The easiest skiing is above the village and Les Bergers. There are plenty of wide-open runs underneath the DMC gondola, many being ‘beginners only’ so you can learn without too much traffic. If you’re feeling confident, try some of the bl...
If you like live music, try the Underground in Vieil Alpe. It combines a pleasant atmosphere with bands playing most nights. Smithy’s has drinks promotions and healthy portions of Tex-Mex food to match. If you can’t bear to miss an important game whilst in France, O’Sharkey’s is the best spot to watch live sports. L’igloo is the place to go if you want to party late into the night. Alpe d’Huez has all of the usual culinary delights you’d expect in the mountains. To sample some traditional French food, ...

"Modern!"

John
5/ out of 5
Modern, well equipped but the kitchen can be a little bit limited. The cooking was a bit of a challenge no oven so mainly used a microwave and stove for the grandchildren’s meals. 3 minutes’ walk to bubble and it will take you to the main lifts and ski school meeting point. 4.5/5. Could be worth bringing basic kitchen essentials - like tea towel, sponge, salt pepper etc – access to supermarkets were not great shops and not well stocked.
