Overview: chalet description: Marco Polo description

Marco Polo is situated in the heart of the French ski resort of Val d'Isère. Discreetly set back from the main road, it offers dual benefit of privacy and easy access to the town centre.

The chalet comfortably sleeps 10 adults and 4 children in six beautiful en-suite bedrooms. And with over 1000m² of alpine-chic living space, it combines contemporary and traditional materials to create a true masterpiece of style. The expansive living area features an open plan lounge and dining area that is set around a central fireplace. This extends onto a large balcony through glass doors and comes complete with an outdoor kitchen and heated seating; offering breathtaking panoramic views of the notorious La Face piste. For when it is too chilly outside, the bar area is the perfect spot for an après-ski cocktail.

Adjacent to this is a hot tub and Hammam, and adjoining this you will find a relaxation area complete with a fireplace and bar, lasers and an entertainment system. To soothe tired limbs there are two massage rooms and an automatic hydro massage machine. The incredible pool in chalet Marco Polo was designed by Christian Lacroix and is covered in gold leaf for that extra level of indulgence. The pool and hot tub use ozone technology to be completely chlorine-free. The natural freshwater oxygen process provides a non-toxic, healthy and environmentally friendly alternative.

Meals: Marco Polo food & drink

We have a passion for fine food and drink. We only use the finest ingredients and wherever possible, local and seasonal produce, sourced from markets and farms.

We ensure that your dining experience is bespoke, rather than routine and our chefs will be delighted to discuss your requirements. For formal dining they can create gastronomic magic; if you want local specialties classic dining or comfort food in front of the TV, they can do that too.

We stock a range of excellent house wines, but if you have any requests, however rare, we will track them down and have them ready for you when you arrive. Of course, there is always a well stocked bar with your favourite spirits along with chilled Perrier Jouet champagne waiting for you and your guests throughout your stay.

We update Marco Polo's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

This accommodation only holiday to Marco Polo in Val d'Isere, France departs Sunday 29th December 2024, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 2024 was between €1 and €3 per person, per night.

In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced: val de saire/sare/ser or val d sere) is widely thought of as one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In keeping with the giddyingly gorgeous surroundings, the resort itself is one of France's prettiest - a huddle alpine hamlets formed from cosy wood and stone chalets. With the original village dating back to the 13th century and a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre, there’s alpine charm by the bucket load. While dre...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. In Val d'Isere's 90-something restaurants, ...

"Marco Polo in Val d’Isere, France"

Celine Renaud, A Luxury Travel Blog
5/ out of 5
Winner of France’s ‘Best Ski Chalet’ award, this is one of the most spectacular chalets I have stepped foot in, from the gold leaf tiles around the swimming pool and a mosaic designed by Christian Lacroix to the secret underground hideaway where guests will find the rarest wines and sample the best cheeses and charcuterie. The chef, who I have had the personal privilege of working alongside is one of the best in the Alps. Quite an apt matching. Marco Polo is described as ‘a unique experience of sensations and a sophistication at a level never before attained’ this could be a review of the food only, but all come on equal levels in this chalet. Reach for the stars and you may just get the idea. Dining here is the rarest of pleasures and one to savour. From: '3 of the best European chalets for gourmet food', A Luxury Travel Blog, 03/04/14
